Shropshire Sings Event 🎤🎶
We are incredibly proud of the broad and balanced curriculum at Lower Heath, where nurturing every child’s talents and passions is at the heart of what we do.
A real highlight each year is taking part in Shropshire Sings, organised by Shropshire Music Service. Our children joined pupils from across the county to perform a fantastic range of songs to a packed audience in a wonderful festival atmosphere.
They sang and danced their hearts out, showing great enthusiasm, confidence and joy throughout. We are so proud of how they represented our school. What a memorable experience for all involved.

Messy Monday! 🎉
What a fantastic day in nursery!
We kicked off with “The Wheels on the Bus” and our new phoneme h, then hopped into maths with Sleeping Bunnies, rolling dice and jumping to the next number to help them develop their counting skills 🐰
In the afternoon, things got very messy with baked beans! The children explored the beans using their hands, making tracks in the tomato sauce, squishing the beans, and investigating how they felt. They used some fantastic vocabulary such as “sticky,” “squishy,” and “gooey!”
What a fun-filled day of singing, hopping, and super messy exploring! 🎶👐

The Marches Trust second annual Open Doors, Open Hearts event was a truly special occasion.
Year 3 children from all Church of England Schools within the Marches Trust came together to worship, sing and learn about Pentecost, often described as the birthday of the Church. It was a meaningful experience, helping children to reflect, connect and deepen their understanding of this significant moment in the Christian calendar.
A huge thank you to Rev Chris and his wonderful team of volunteers from St Alkmund’s Church, Whitchurch, and surrounding churches. The activities they led brought the story of Pentecost to life in an engaging and memorable way.
Events like this play an important role in nurturing our children’s spiritual development and sense of community. It was a joy to share this time together.

Wem Rotary Young Achievers 🏆
What a joyful evening at the Wem Rotary Young Achievers Award, alongside eight local primary schools, celebrating pupils who truly make a difference!
It was inspiring to hear the incredible things children are doing in our community. A huge thank you to Roger Ashton and the Rotary team for restarting this event. Each child received a certificate and book token, a lovely way to mark their achievements.
We are so proud of our nominee, Hattie Breese, who is richly deserving of this recognition. Inspired by her family connection with Down’s syndrome, she raised awareness through an assembly and set up our Dance of Down’s Syndrome school club, which is going from strength to strength. Hattie truly lets her light shine and lives out our Christian values every day. She is kind, inclusive and always thinking of others.
Well done, Hattie, a fantastic and well deserved achievement.

We were incredibly proud to see our pupils’ artwork officially unveiled at Prees railway station as part of Community Rail Week. The project, Lines Through the Land, brought together our children, local artist Cathy Williams, 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership and members of the wider community to create a truly special installation that celebrates the identity, history and natural beauty of Prees.
Through a series of creative workshops, each class explored different aspects of our local area, from Bronze Age roots to farmland and wildlife, producing a vibrant collection of artwork that now has a permanent home at the station.
This has been a meaningful opportunity for our children to contribute to something beyond the classroom, helping them to understand the importance of community, belonging and taking pride in where they live.
A huge thank you to Cathy Williams and Josie Rayworth along with station volunteers and community members, for making this possible.
If you are passing through Prees station, do take a moment to have a look and celebrate the creativity of our pupils and the story of our village.

Reading The Game ⚽
It was great to welcome Coach Neil from Shrewsbury Town Football Club on Thursday to Owl Class. Reading The Game is a programme designed to enhance reading and writing skills through the medium of football. We had a great session in the classroom followed by a PE session where Owls developed their football skills.
Well done Owls.

Welcome to a new term! 🌞
Our phonics song of the week is The Wheels on the Bus, and we have been introducing the new phoneme 'r'. The children enjoyed joining in with the familiar song and listening out for words that begin with the letter sound 'r'.
In maths, we focused on the composition of the number 3. The children used three counters and explored the different ways to make 3. They practised grouping and rearranging the counters, helping them to understand that numbers can be made in different combinations while still representing the same total.
Our story of the week is The Naughty Bus. The children enjoyed listening to the story and talking about the bus's adventures. They were encouraged to predict what might happen next and discuss their favourite parts of the story.
For Messy Monday, the children explored sand and water play. They independently mixed the materials together to create puddles and enjoyed making tracks using a variety of tools and vehicles. They watched with fascination as the tracks gradually disappeared, encouraging curiosity, investigation, and early scientific thinking. This activity supported sensory exploration, problem-solving skills, and imaginative play while developing fine motor control and cooperation with their peers.
