School Family Picnic π§Ίπ
What a special way to mark the end of SATs! Our annual whole school picnic is always a highlight, a chance to celebrate the childrenβs hard work and recognise this important rite of passage.
Once again, we were blessed with wonderful weather, which made the afternoon even more enjoyable.
A fantastic addition to this yearβs event came from our One Voice leaders group, who suggested an adults v children football match. Expertly refereed by Mr Holt Williams, it was a brilliant game with parents and children giving it their all. The final score, although a little disputed, was 7β7. Huge thanks to Mr Lamb for captaining the adults team!
It was a truly joyful afternoon, full of laughter, teamwork and togetherness. Well done to One Voice for such a great idea, and thank you to everyone who got involved. Moments like this reflect our values so strongly, community, respect and supporting one another, and remind us what makes Lower Heath so special.

Speak and Shine π
Each year, all of our children take part in Speak and Shine to develop their confidence in performing in front of an audience. Whether reading from a book or reciting a memorised poem, every child has the opportunity to find their voice and share it with others.
On our final day of Speak and Shine, one of our Year 5 pupils took this to another level. Not only did she confidently perform her poem from memory, she added actions and, most wonderfully of all, encouraged the entire school to join in with her.
It was a truly beautiful moment of fellowship that captured exactly what Speak and Shine is all about. We are so proud of her and of all our children for their courage, creativity and willingness to shine.

Kingfisher Class Art Project with 4All π©πΌβπ¨
In Art, we were very lucky to have a special visit from Mrs Lloyd from SJT Secondary School. She guided us in creating some beautiful horse artwork using carbon paper, watercolours and pens. The pieces were inspired by Major Vern Stokesβ military career and the artist Amy Devlin. Kingfishers absolutely loved this experience and produced some truly stunning work. Even more excitingly, the artwork will be taken to an exhibition in Telford.

Robin Class
Due to the windy conditions, we were unable to visit Allwood World this week, but that didnβt stop us from having a wonderful afternoon! πΏπ¨
After discovering a caterpillar on one of the childrenβs clothes, our curiosity led us on a mini investigation. We spent time learning all about caterpillars, painting beautiful butterfly pictures, and enjoying the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. ππ¦π
A lovely example of how a little moment can turn into a fantastic learning experience! π

What a lovely four-day week itβs been in Kingfishers! πΌ
The children have had a busy and engaging week of learning across the curriculum. In Geography, we have been learning about the Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest, exploring how they live and the important role they play in protecting their environment. We also began to understand some of the dangers humans are posing to the rainforest, which sparked some thoughtful discussions.
Here's a link to an interactive video of the amazon rainforest -----> www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JvJCvdqvYs
In Art, we completed our work on Amazon rainforest animals by creating four different perspectives of an animal. The children used viewfinders to help them focus carefully on what they could actually see, rather than what they imagined β a fantastic way to develop their observational drawing skills. The results are really impressive!
In Science, we began planning our next investigation, focusing on insulators and conductors. The children worked collaboratively to think about how we could test different materials. Watch this space for photos of our experiment next week!
We finished off the week with swimming, and it has been wonderful to see how much confidence the children are already gaining after just three sessions. They have shown great resilience, determination and, most importantly, a real sense of enjoyment.

Messy Monday 11th May π¨
This week at Messy Monday we had lots of exciting adventures and fun learning!
Our phoneme of the day was βeβ and we loved singing A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea together with lots of actions and smiles. The children joined in brilliantly and had so much fun pretending to be sailors on a big adventure across the ocean!
In maths, we sang London Bridge is Falling Down while learning all about 3D shapes. We explored cubes and cuboids, sorting them carefully into groups. The children noticed that both shapes have flat faces, with cubes having square faces and cuboids having rectangle faces. We then became little builders and worked together to create our very own bridge using the shapes!
Our story of the week is Pirate Pete. The children enjoyed creating their own Pirate Pete characters and talking about exciting pirate adventures on the high seas. There were lots of imaginative ideas about treasure maps, pirate ships, and hidden treasure!
In the afternoon, the children had an amazing time during messy play. They explored squishy jelly while searching for treasure that had sunk to the bottom of the sea. They discovered shiny coins and sea creatures hidden inside and had lots of giggles and excitement while digging through the jelly. It was a fantastic sensory experience and everyone had lots of fun!
