Welcome to a new term! ๐
Our phonics song of the week is The Wheels on the Bus, and we have been introducing the new phoneme 'r'. The children enjoyed joining in with the familiar song and listening out for words that begin with the letter sound 'r'.
In maths, we focused on the composition of the number 3. The children used three counters and explored the different ways to make 3. They practised grouping and rearranging the counters, helping them to understand that numbers can be made in different combinations while still representing the same total.
Our story of the week is The Naughty Bus. The children enjoyed listening to the story and talking about the bus's adventures. They were encouraged to predict what might happen next and discuss their favourite parts of the story.
For Messy Monday, the children explored sand and water play. They independently mixed the materials together to create puddles and enjoyed making tracks using a variety of tools and vehicles. They watched with fascination as the tracks gradually disappeared, encouraging curiosity, investigation, and early scientific thinking. This activity supported sensory exploration, problem-solving skills, and imaginative play while developing fine motor control and cooperation with their peers.

Messy Monday 18th May๐ฆ๐ซ
Messy Monday was all about water play. Mrs J put something in the water that made it crackle and pop, and the water turned blue! It sounded just like sausages sizzling in a pan.
Our phoneme is โuโ and our phonics song is still A Sailor Went to Sea.
In Maths this week, we are recapping all that we have learnt this term. On Monday, we learnt about first, then, next, plant and grow. On Tuesday, we learnt about first, next, last, before and after.
Tuneful Tuesday was our open afternoon. The children enjoyed taking part in painting and sensory activities, and it was lovely to see everyone having so much fun!

A school disco might look simple, but these are the moments children remember. Time with friends, music, a chance to just enjoy being together and feel part of something. At Lower Heath, those moments do not just happen by chance. They rely on people giving up their time, stepping in and making them possible.
Thank you to the parents who helped run the disco this week. It takes more than people realise to organise, supervise and keep everything running smoothly, and we really appreciate it.
The children had a brilliant time, and that is what matters most.

School Family Picnic ๐งบ๐
What a special way to mark the end of SATs! Our annual whole school picnic is always a highlight, a chance to celebrate the childrenโs hard work and recognise this important rite of passage.
Once again, we were blessed with wonderful weather, which made the afternoon even more enjoyable.
A fantastic addition to this yearโs event came from our One Voice leaders group, who suggested an adults v children football match. Expertly refereed by Mr Holt Williams, it was a brilliant game with parents and children giving it their all. The final score, although a little disputed, was 7โ7. Huge thanks to Mr Lamb for captaining the adults team!
It was a truly joyful afternoon, full of laughter, teamwork and togetherness. Well done to One Voice for such a great idea, and thank you to everyone who got involved. Moments like this reflect our values so strongly, community, respect and supporting one another, and remind us what makes Lower Heath so special.

Speak and Shine ๐
Each year, all of our children take part in Speak and Shine to develop their confidence in performing in front of an audience. Whether reading from a book or reciting a memorised poem, every child has the opportunity to find their voice and share it with others.
On our final day of Speak and Shine, one of our Year 5 pupils took this to another level. Not only did she confidently perform her poem from memory, she added actions and, most wonderfully of all, encouraged the entire school to join in with her.
It was a truly beautiful moment of fellowship that captured exactly what Speak and Shine is all about. We are so proud of her and of all our children for their courage, creativity and willingness to shine.

Kingfisher Class Art Project with 4All ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐จ
In Art, we were very lucky to have a special visit from Mrs Lloyd from SJT Secondary School. She guided us in creating some beautiful horse artwork using carbon paper, watercolours and pens. The pieces were inspired by Major Vern Stokesโ military career and the artist Amy Devlin. Kingfishers absolutely loved this experience and produced some truly stunning work. Even more excitingly, the artwork will be taken to an exhibition in Telford.

Robin Class
Due to the windy conditions, we were unable to visit Allwood World this week, but that didnโt stop us from having a wonderful afternoon! ๐ฟ๐จ
After discovering a caterpillar on one of the childrenโs clothes, our curiosity led us on a mini investigation. We spent time learning all about caterpillars, painting beautiful butterfly pictures, and enjoying the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. ๐๐ฆ๐
A lovely example of how a little moment can turn into a fantastic learning experience! ๐
