Last week in Nursery, we have been looking at the concept of kindness through the beautifully illustrated picture book ‘I Walk With Vanessa’ by Kerascoet. As there are no words in the book, the children were free to explore the language they already know about emotions and feelings and made up their own minds what had happened, what the problem was and how best to resolve it. They have made a ‘friendship heart’ using every child in Nursery’s handprint, wrote captions to explain the feelings of the characters in the story, spoken about their different morning and evening routines and created ‘kindness rocks’ to display, to help anyone who is struggling to be positive throughout the day. The Nursery children truly understand that a simple act of kindness can mean the world to somebody.
