Welcome to Kingfisher Class

Year 3/4. We are taught by Miss Sands and supported by our classroom assistants Mrs Haynes & Mrs Kirk. In Kingfisher class, we strive to discover the magic of learning in Years 3 and 4. We aim to explore, learn, and grow together.

We love learning! Kingfishers are like little detectives, always seeking knowledge. From exciting science experiments to captivating stories, we celebrate every “aha!” moment. Learning is an adventure! We also like to act as mentors to the younger children in school and inspire their learning too. We are buddied up with Robin class and every week, we meet all together in the library and read with our reception partners

Please refer to our Home Learning Policy below for further details on what is expected for children to do at home.

We are lucky to have a classroom that opens onto the school field, allowing us to enjoy outdoor learning and weekly Allwood World sessions in nature.

In Kingfishers, children use home learning journals to extend their learning through creative projects, reading challenges and maths puzzles. We encourage daily reading, spelling and multiplication practice, with weekly check-ins to celebrate progress and achievement.

A typical day includes:

  • Mornings: English and maths mastery
  • Afternoons: Science, history, art, music, PE, PSHE, computing and French
  • Daily 15 Running Track: Staying active and healthy

As a church school, worship is an important part of our day. We celebrate our values of love, respect, faith, fellowship and thankfulness through class and whole-school worship.

Each term, Kingfishers lead a Courageous Advocacy project. One highlight was organising a Colour Run to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research, helping us make a positive difference in the world.
