It’s time to shine the spotlight on our Nursery Lead, Mrs Langer!

“As soon as I walked through the gates for my interview here, I had an overwhelming feeling of a calm, family-like atmosphere and knew that I would love working here, if I was lucky enough to get offered the position. Luck was on my side and ‘lucky’ is the feeling I’ve had ever since. It’s been a privilege working at Lower Heath for the past 5-6 years. I’ve been working in education for the better part of 15-17 years. I’ve had many roles during my time at many schools, including at special education needs settings and a brief time in a secondary school. I was based in an ‘outer London’ setting until I moved here approximately 6 years ago. There was quite a difference in settings as you can imagine! I’m loving my current role as Nursery Lead and all the wonderful experiences that it provides. I am keen on developing the EYFS outdoor provision further to meet the needs of the youngest in our school and I’ve recently worked with others to develop our whole school outdoor learning area, Allwood World, as giving children learning time outside of the classroom is something I feel passionately about. My special needs background has given me a unique perspective on how communication can be a pivotal part of relationships, social understanding and self-esteem. I’ve been trained in Makaton (a form of sign language and communication) and this is something that I use daily within my role and this is another area I feel passionately about developing further within the school. When I’m not busy with schoolwork I enjoy time with my family.”
