Christian Distinctiveness in English
Our texts are carefully chosen to challenge pupils both academically and emotionally while embracing inclusivity and spiritual growth. Children are able to relate to characters to develop empathy and respect in stories which demonstrate differences from their lives. We have selected stories written by authors from diverse backgrounds and inspirational people whose real-life challenges require faith during difficult times. Through literature, our pupils explore compassion, forgiveness and moral challenges, allowing them to consider different perspectives.
We aspire for children to develop a love of reading and writing. Through our inspirational curriculum and nurturing teaching, children develop faith in themselves and their English achievements, sharing this in fellowship with their classmates and the wider school community. Our wider curriculum involves children reading with their buddies, celebrating important events such as World Book Day and sharing stories during our ACE Lunchtime Club (A Christian Ethos).
