Topic Launch Day
Friday 9th September will be the launch day for our new geography and history topics. Children are invited to come into school in any costumes linked to their topic, and as part of the launch day, they will complete exciting activities to engage them in their theme for the term. More detail about our autumn topics will be added to our school website at the start of next term. However, in the meantime, if you have any questions (or require any costume suggestions), please contact your child’s class teacher for next year to discuss.
Hummingbird (Nursery) and Robin (Reception) – ‘Where I Live’ – in geography, children will study their local area; in history, they will develop an understanding of their immediate family history.
Skylark (Year 1/2) – ‘Mission to the Moon’ – in geography, children study the county of Shropshire; in history, they will develop an understanding of the life and significance of Neil Armstrong.
Kingfisher (Year 3/4) – ‘The Industrial Revolution’ – in geography, children will study counties and cities within the UK; in history, children will develop an understanding of The Industrial Revolution; they will consider impact within the local area through studying Ironbridge/Coalbrookdale.
Owl (Year 5/6) – ‘Meet the Flintstones’ – children will carry out a local geographical study on Oswestry Hillfort; in history, they will study the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
