Introducing Allwood World: Lower Heath CE Primary School’s amazing outdoor learning facility

Allwood World | Lower Heath CE Primary School

We are incredibly excited to announce the opening of our amazing Allwood World outdoor learning area at Lower Heath CE Primary School.

This project has been made possible through the tireless efforts this year of Mrs Hipkins, Mrs Langer, and the Allwood family, along with our wider community and members of staff who came to our tidy-up days to initially clear the area. We are so proud of the result and think it is ‘probably the best outdoor learning facility in Shropshire’!

To celebrate this incredible community achievement, the whole school took part in the official grand opening of Allwood World which took place on Tuesday 25th July. To make the event extra special we were pleased to welcome the ‘Educating Kids Outdoors‘ team, who joined us for the full day, working with our pupils on sustainable activities, bushcraft, and for our older children, safe fire-lighting and marshmallow toasting! Later in the day, we then also invited families to come and look at the area to see firsthand what their children had experienced throughout the day and what pupils can look forward to accessing during lessons.

It was a really fantastic day with no cost to families thanks to school funds and monies raised by our school community through fundraisers such as our school summer fair.

Outdoor learning is important to us at Lower Heath; we plan to ensure all of our children have access to this brilliant facility throughout the next school year to take advantage of the benefits it provides:

  • Outdoor learning activities offer children ample opportunities to engage in physical activities and explore nature – promoting physical fitness, coordination and overall wellbeing, contributing to a healthier lifestyle.
  • Being immersed in a natural environment stimulates children’s curiosity and creativity.
  • Participating in outdoor group activities encourages teamwork, communication and cooperation among children.
  • Interacting with peers in a natural setting also helps build self-confidence, resilience and emotional intelligence, enabling children to better manage stresses and build positive relationships with others.

In addition, if you know of any local groups that would like to use Allwood World, please do let us know as this is an excellent opportunity for us to connect with our local community and for them to also benefit from our fantastic new provision. Let us know by emailing admin@low.mmat.co.uk.
