Meet the team | Mrs Hipkins

It’s time to shine the spotlight on Mrs Hipkins!

“I have been involved with schools for many years; you could say that teaching is in my blood. My father was a primary school headteacher in Liverpool and I watched him spend many hours planning and preparing for fun and exciting days in school. Even as a child, I would go and help in his school whenever I had the opportunity and always thought, ‘This is what I want to do when I grow up!’

“I started volunteering in schools in 2007, listening to children read in my children’s primary school; they are now 25, 23 and 20 years old! I then worked in Whitchurch Infants School initially as a teaching assistant, firstly, supporting a child with autism, then as a general classroom teaching assistant. I had always wanted to become a teacher but decided to wait until my own children had started in secondary school. I finally became a qualified teacher 8 years ago and have never looked back!

“Lower Heath is where I was fortunate to begin my full time teaching career and I have always been incredibly happy working here. I am so lucky to work alongside such an amazing team of talented, fun and supportive colleagues who always strive to do their best for our fantastic children. I have worked as SENDCo across various schools within the Marches Academy Trust and am now really enjoying my new role as Head of EYFS at Lower Heath.

“In my spare time, I enjoy going for walks with my crazy black Labrador ‘Doris’, going to the beach and spending time with my friends and family. I also love a good holiday, lazing in the sunshine, listening to music and losing myself in a good book! It is such a privilege to be part of the Lower Heath family and I look forward to working alongside colleagues, friends, children and parents for many more years to come.”
