Year 3/4 – Kingfisher Class

Welcome to Kingfisher Class!

We are taught by Miss Sands and supported by our classroom assistant Mrs Haynes.

In Kingfisher class, we strive to discover the magic of learning in Years 3 and 4. We aim to explore, learn, and grow together.

We love learning! Kingfishers are like little detectives, always seeking knowledge. From exciting science experiments to captivating stories, we celebrate every “aha!” moment. Learning is an adventure! We also like to act as mentors to the younger children in school and inspire their learning too. We are buddied up with Robin class and every week, we meet all together in the library and read with our reception partners.

We are also lucky enough to be in a classroom that opens up onto the school field. This makes learning beyond the classroom walls a breeze. We enjoy going out into nature to learn, whether that be a lesson outdoors or our weekly Allwood World outdoor learning session. We love being a part of nature!

Here in Kingfishers, we have our own home learning journals. Home learning isn’t just tasks; it’s a chance to apply what we’ve learned. Creative projects, reading challenges, and maths puzzles keep our brains buzzing. We encourage independent thinking and growth. We actively encourage daily multiplication, spelling and reading practice to ensure we become fluent in all these areas. We have weekly check-in with these to monitor progress and reward all the hard work our children put into their learning.

We’re an energetic class that loves learning! Here’s what a typical day would look like in Kingfisher’s:

Mornings: Dive into English and mathematics mastery.

Afternoons: Explore science, history, art, music, PE, PSHE, computing, and French.

Daily 15 Running Track: Stay fit and healthy with our quick run.

As a church school, we embrace our faith. We gather for class worship, where we reflect, share stories and find inspiration. Our whole school worship assemblies bring us together as a community, celebrating our values of love, respect, faith, fellowship and thankfulness.

Our class lead worship both to share stories and important events and to talk about our Courageous Advocacy project that we have worked on each term. Our favourite so far was organising a Colour Run to raise awareness and money for cancer research. We feel strongly about making our world better for everyone and this is our contribution to it.
